They Were Her Granddaughters

What does it mean to be a New Yorker?

Naomi (right): What does that mean? I'm not a New Yorker. I'm from Brooklyn My mom says she's a New Yorker. But I consider myself a Brooklyner. I've been here since I was one.

Beth (left): I feel free. Like the Statue of Liberty. Some places you can only take cars to but here we can take buses and trains.

What do you remember about Florence?

Beth (left): She was nice. She taught us to play piano when we were really little. She taught us really well.

Naomi (right): She was a beautiful musician. She got frustrated if I didn't practice the piano.
