In The Still Of The Night The Sound of Silence...

Quiet was the absence of words, music, radio, and later, when we all went our separate ways and had our own homes, TV.

A New York silence, in a still night, was (and still is) filled with the noise of other people's lives. And the silence and stillness was (and still is) a muteness that came from watching lives we couldn't figure out how to replicate.

That feeling of being high above and cut off from life, of existence being suspended, of being a spectator instead of a participant; just for a little while; sometimes interesting but most times just lonely. Is it just me or does apartment living compartmentalize a person to the point where you find it difficult to interact with others. Your whole life is broken up into little boxes of work/home and it is very hard to break out of that.
Oh well!! Enough of that! Have to say, I enjoy your blog very much.

delighted with your visit and comment on this experience of being boxes. Even knowing my neighbors there is great silence in my life as I listen to them...
